Monday, April 9, 2012, is the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the Bataan Death March, which took place during World War II. It began after the end of the Battle of Bataan in the Philippines, when 72,000 American and Filipino soldiers surrendered to their Japanese enemy. The Japanese, who had no respect for surrendering soldiers, led the starving prisoners of war on a 63-mile trek that was mired in abuse. Find out more about the Bataan Death March.
